I don't know why I'm struggling with this so much. Here it is, the second Tuesday since I decided to adopt a Twitter Strategy and tweet every Tuesday, and I'm, like, clueless.
I envy those people who can tweet with absolute abandon, freely and openly proclaiming their love for Cinnabon, or how they're stuck in level 4B at the Atlanta airport, as though, somehow, magically, someone else will appear waving a smartphone and shout out, "Me too! Me too! I am here, too!" and then rob and kill them.

I really don't understand Twitter. It seems way too self-involved and petty and plus, my day-to-day life is just not that interesting, and from what I can see of others there...neither are theirs.
Yeah, my sister's Tweets are so boring that if she weren't my sister I'd have dropped her. I mean, I don't care where you're eating lunch at Disney. Not to mention that's dangerous, though I doubt anyone would be stalking them.
Most of my tweets are just to promote my blog entries or the occasional random thoughts. That's pretty much what most of the celebrities (or their interns) do.
Well, Andrew, I joined the Twitter and I have to tell you, I actually enjoy it. I have met some very cool people and find it is a good way to drive people to your work and blog. I gave in! I'm not posting about eating lunch because I agree that is boring. I like to use it to promote other writers and bring some attention to their works!
I'm with you, D.M. I love the writing community on Twitter and host #ScribeChat, a weekly chat where writers can share knowledge and brainstorm challenges we all face during the writing, selling and marketing process.
Tweets are only as banal as the people who write them. One thing I do know: Mr. Smith is not banal. His tweets are like novels in haiku.
I have to agree with Brian James. Twitter does seem a bit self-involved, especially with the way many people use it. I mean, if something in my life is so interesting that I just HAVE to share, then chances are I can't tell the story in 140 characters or less. I'll end up writing a blog post on my personal blog. :)
So, instead, I use Twitter as a marketing tool. I tweet about my blog posts, publishing news, writing tips, and author news. Yeah, I'm a geek. :)
